What is retired out? Cricket rule R Ashwin used in IPL 2022 during RR vs LSG clash

One person who likes to play by the rules of cricket, even if they are against the "spirit of the game", is Ravichandran Ashwin. Currently serving for the Rajasthan Royals (RR), the spinner was again rejected when his team clashed with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

Elevated to No. 6 for Riyan Parag, a movement that doesn't please online users. Many others are beginning to question the Rajasthan Royals tactics on Twitter.

However, the versatile did his job well, scoring 28 out of 23 balls. Riyan Parag, however, performed an excellent intervention and Shimron Hetmyer was replaced. Parag scored eight of four balls, while Hetmyer scored 59 out of 36, while RR finished 165 out of 6.

"I literally have no idea about that retire-out decision from Ashwin! It was a good decision in the end," Hetmyer told Star Sports during the innings break.

So what is retired out?

According to ICC rules, a batsman may interrupt in T20 cricket, but must inform the referee.

According to MCC Law 25.4.3, "if a batter retires for any reason other than as in 25.4.2 (retires because of illness, injury or any other unavoidable cause), the innings of that batter may be resumed only with the consent of the opposing captain. If for any reason his/her innings is not resumed, that batter is to be recorded as 'Retired - out'."

Only four players, including Ashwin, were fired and retired oit in the T20s. The list includes Shahid Afridi, Sonam Tobgay and Sunzamul Islam.
