Overseas player of Delhi Capitals tests COVID positive

Delhi Capitals tested positive for coronavirus during a quick antigen test on Monday morning. The Indian Express understands that the cricketer in question is an overseas addition who complains of headaches and a mild fever.

The development prompted the India Cricket Control Board (BCCI) to recommend to Delhi Capitals to suspend its departure from Pune until a new round of RT-PCR tests on Monday.

If a positive result is confirmed by an RT-PCR test, this is the third case in a DC camp.

On Friday, Delhi Capitals physio Patrick Farhart tested positive, and a day later it became clear that the tested masseur was infected. Both are isolated from the rest of the team.

The Delhi Capitals are scheduled to meet with Punjabi kings on Wednesday night at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

The Indian board’s biggest concern is to prevent the virus from spreading among the teams and they are now working to come up with another plan.

On Saturday, before the Delhi Capitals-Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Indian board ordered the players of both teams not to shake hands or hug to prevent a possible transfer.

Players from different teams usually meet after the games to chat before they split up. Delhi players are advised to travel to the company during interviews and to wear masks. Non-playing team members who watched the match in the stands were asked to wear masks throughout the match, except for food and drink.
