13-time champion Rafael Nadal beats World No.1 Novak Djokovic

In a stunning victory, 13-time champion Rafael Nadal defeated world number one Novak Djokovic 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 and advanced to the semifinals of the French Open.

Nadal defeated Djokovic 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 to take the place in the semifinals. Thirteen-time champion Roland Garros will compete for the final with Germany's Alexander Zverev on Sunday.

The Spaniard Nadal led the first set, while Djokovic ran away in the second set. Nadal realized this development and was able to reassert himself in the dominant third set. The world doesn't. 1 was the fastest start in the fourth, but Nadal rejected his attempt to serve a set and won it in a one-sided tie-break.

Djokovic in particular is trying to increase his grand slam number to 21. He currently has 20 with Roger Federer. 20 Nadal is now 21, which is the most of all. Djokovic also defeated Nadal last year and won the French Open.

Nadal is known as the clay king - many times he did not win the French Open maximum (13) and only three times lost to the French (with Djokovic mistaken twice out of three). Nadal lost in the semifinals to Djokovic in 4 sets last year.

Also, Nadal won the Australian Open this year. Had Djokovic won the French Open 2022, he would have become the first man in the Open Era to complete 3 career Grand Slams- beating his own record. Djokovic completed his second career Grand Slam in French Open 2021. Nadal also completed his second career Grand Slam in Australian Open 2022.
