Pakistan makes another controversial move on ICC World Cup 2023

The issue of hosting rights is set to resurface as Pakistan plans to request their 2023 World Cup matches to be played at a neutral venue. India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup resulted in a hybrid model for the tournament.

Pakistan has once again sparked the debate over hosting rights for both the World Cup and Asia Cup, despite the confirmed dates. They demand that their World Cup matches be held at a neutral venue.

Pakistan is set to demand a similar arrangement for the 2023 World Cup in India. PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf will make the request at an ICC meeting in Durban. Pakistan is scheduled to play their World Cup matches in Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad. The India-Pakistan match will be held in Ahmedabad, while Pakistan’s semi-final is set for Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.

Pakistan has not traveled to India for any cricket assignment since the 2016 T20 World Cup. The India-Pakistan match in that tournament was relocated from Dharmashala to Kolkata shortly before the game.
