SRH vs DC: Who won Player of the Match in yesterday's IPL
2023 match?
Axar put on a great all-around show for DC. He followed his
34 with figures of 2-21. Pandey, as he scored a crucial 34, while Nortje got
points from Brook and Klaasen.
For SRH, Sundar (3-28 & 24*) shined with bat and
ball, while Bhuvneshwar finished with impressive figures of 2-11. In the chase,
Agarwal scored 49 and Klaasen quickly scored 31. Axar, however, was named
Player of the Match for his brilliant efforts.
Chasing 145, Hyderabad started well. Mayank Agarwal is
impressive, reaching at least the final in the first five. On the other side,
however, Harry Brook (7 of 14) struggled.
His misery ended when he missed a scoop attempt and was
brought down by Anrich Nortje. Agarwal came out slowly after Brook's departure
and missed a half-century, losing to Axar Patel's long delivery.
Rahul Tripathi also struggled for pace and caught Ishant
Sharma for 15 off 21. Abhishek Sharma (5) then allowed a return to Kuldeep
Yadav, after which Aiden Markram (3) brought Axar's delivery to his stumps. The
SRH skipper's dismissal left his team reeling at 85-5 at the start of the 15th
over.
Heinrich Klaasen (31 off 19) hit three fours and sixes to
give the chasers hope, but it fell to Nortje, looking for another big hit.
Washington Sundar scored 24* off 15, but DC remained calm as Mukesh Kumar
scored 13 points in the final over.
Axar and Pandey lifted Delhi after a disappointing spell
Battling first, DC lost Phil Salt for a duck as he was
caught behind by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Mitchell Marsh scored 25 runs from 15 but
was caught lbw while going down the wrong line to T Natarajan.
Disaster struck Delhi in the eighth over as they lost three
wickets to Sundar. David Warner (21) and Sarfaraz Khan (10) fired at the
players, while Aman Hakim Khan (4) was lost trying to make a mess.
Axar (34 from 34) and Manish Pandey (34 from 27) steadied
the ship with a sixth wicket stand of 69. They did not take many risks, knowing
that there were no trees left in the house.
Axar's innings ended when he was bowled by a yorker from
Bhuvneshwar. Then Pandey got tired of trying to get the second run at Sundar's
poor ground.
