Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated
the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) yesterday (23. A decisive victory moved Chennai
to the top of the points table.
CSK was sent to bat first, posting
an impressive 235/4 on the board when Ajinkya Rahane (71* for 29) and Shivam
Dube (50 for 21) broke the vortex for half a century In the chase, KKR held on
to 186/8 despite fifties from Jason Roy (61 for 26) and Rinku Singh (53* for 33.
Kolkata needed a good start to
stay in the big hunt. Instead, Akash Singh defeated Sunil Narine (0) in the first-round
while Narayan Jagadeesan died in Tushar Deshpande. Venkatesh Iyer was jailed by
Moeen Ali for 20 run-a-ball. On the same round, Roy hit the spinner for three
consecutive sixes.
KKR captain Nitish Rana (27)
again made no significant contribution. He hit the goal in the middle of
Ravindra Jadeja's bowling alley. Roy supported Calcutta's faint hopes. He took
on Jadeja and Maheesh Theekshana and hit them with some powerful punches.
KKR batsman walked 50 of 19 balls.
But Theekshana got the last laugh as she licked Roy and cleaned him up.Even as the
goals fell, Rinku persevered, ending another difficult half-century, albeit a
losing battle.

The CSK Flyhalf continued their streak
adding 73 in 7.3 overs. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad again failed to change his exit.
Suyash Sharma brought him down with 35 balls from 20 balls.Devon Conway improved
by over 50 points on his fourth consecutive result. His good shooting ended at
56 for 40 when he was caught trying to tackle Varun Chakravarthy on a long break.
Dube walked in and read KKR six times
in a row. Rahane then hit the first two serves in Umesh Yadav's next game, the
14th inning, for two more highs while CSK hit four straight sixes. There was
more penalty for Umesh when 22 went over the lines.
Dube perished shortly after
reaching his half-century while attempting to hunt down Kulwant Khejroliya. But
Rahane led to the end and didn't lose momentum. In the penultimate round, he beat
Chakravarthy for consecutive sixes and fours.
It was completely different from
Rahane's twist, which included rules, reverse twists, and other unconventional
options!
Conway scored fifty more runs
for CSK while Dube played Lightning.Rahane was just outstanding, hitting six
fours and five sixes. With the ball, Deshpande and Theekshana each scored two goals.
KKR was little fun with the
ball. Roy and Rinku's half-century hunt gave them reason to celebrate.
Rahane was named Man of the
Match for his spectacular shooting.
