Chennai Super Kings pacesetter Deepak Chahar is all set to
miss the upcoming first half of the Indian Premier League with a right
quadriceps injury sustained during his third and final T20 match against West
Indies in Kolkata. According to BCCI sources, Chahar is expected to be out for
eight weeks.

"Chahar is out
for at least eight weeks, which means he will miss half of IPL 2022," a
BCCI source told PTI. IPL 2022 kicks off on 26 March and CSK is still waiting
for the final report from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru,
where Pacer is recovering. Chahar was bought by CSK for a whopping Rs 14 crore,
which is the second most expensive buy in this year's IPL auction.

The 29-year-old injured his right quadriceps in the T20
final against West Indies in Kolkata on February 20 and then missed the three
T20 draw against Sri Lanka, which India won 3-0.
In his short international career so far, Chahar has won 10
and 26 tickets from seven ODI and 20 T20 games respectively.

Chahar, who dropped down the charts, also made a valuable
contribution to India, reaching twenty-five on the ODI, with 69 not his highest
score.
The IPL 2022 is scheduled to be played in the country from
March 26 till May 29.
