Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Mumbai Indians (MI) take on
each other in the IPL 2023 Eliminator in Chennai on Wednesday, May
24. The winner of this match will play Qualifier 2 for a place in the final.
The lower will be eliminated from the tournament. The IPL 2023 final will be
played in Ahmedabad on May 28.
LSG defeated KKR by one run in a cliffhanger of a contest
to win the match. They negated the Rinku Singh threat to make their way into
the playoffs in back-to-back seasons. MI, on the other hand, defeated SRH by 8
wickets in a chase of 200 and won with 12 balls to spare. Cameron Green scored
his maiden IPL ton to help Mumbai finish fourth on the table.
Speaking about IPL 2023, all 10 teams played 14 games
during the tournament, including home and away games. Four teams who finished
in the top four spots in the points table qualified for playoffs. Gujarat
Titans are the defending champions of IPL 2023 and also were the
first team to qualify for the playoffs.
Each franchise played five teams twice and four teams just
once in the IPL 2023 season. The top 4 teams who reached the playoffs are GT,
CSK, LSG, and MI. Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Punjab Kings
are among the three franchises from the original teams to never have won the
IPL. RCBs were eliminated after they lost to GT in the final league game of IPL
2023. That meant MI became the fourth team to make the playoffs.
