Ahmed Alghamdi, Director of
Al-Nassr, is convinced that Cristiano Ronaldo's presence in the Saudi Pro
League will increase the country's reputation in the world.
Al-Aalami signed Ronaldo on a
free transfer after he left Manchester United in November last year. They made
him the highest paid player in the world to lure him to Saudi Arabia.
The Portuguese icon hit the
ground running at Al-Nassr, scoring 11 goals in nine games. His presence has
undoubtedly boosted the club's curriculum on and off the pitch.
Apart from the Mrsool Park team,
other Saudi Pro League clubs also benefited from Ronaldo's arrival. Al-Tai FC
director Turki Al-Dhabaan recently explained that the striker's move to Saudi
Arabia made it easier for him to communicate with other footballers, saying:
"Ronaldo's arrival is a great addition to our team. Communication with the players has been easier since he arrived."
In the grand scheme of things,
signing Al-Nassr and Ronaldo is a big move for Saudi Arabia as a nation. In
addition to putting the Saudi Pro League on the map, the presence of the
five-time Ballon d'Or winner is clearly reflected in the country.
Alghamdi believes that Ronaldo
and Al-Nassr will highlight Saudi Arabia's progress. The leader of Al-Aalami
emphasized that the agreement continues to be the subject of discussions around
the world, telling Ariyadhiah:
"(Cristiano Ronaldo signed
is) a historic contract and proof of the great comeback we are having, with the
unlimited support of a wise management. It is still resonating around the
world. This will have a positive impact on the image of the country and abroad
and show the world the progress of our country and civilization."
Ronaldo is under contract with the
Riyadh-based club until June 2025. The Saudi Pro League club hopes that the
38-year-old's presence will help them attract more elite players to the country
next year.
