Former Indian fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad is a staunch
critic of KL Rahul. After the Indian fly-half took another hit with the bat, he
urged him to play County Cricket and contemplate missing the 2023 IPL season.
Indian opener KL Rahul's form with the bat continued in the
second Test against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as he failed to
register a big score in either sleeve. In the first moto, Rahul was dismissed
in 17th, while he could only manage a run in the second moto. India retained
the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Sunday after defeating Australia in the second
Test by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Former India fast
bowler Venkatesh Prasad, who criticized Rahul recently, made it clear that he
had no "personal issues" with the batter.
"Few people
think I have anything against KL Rahul. Actually, it's the opposite. I wish him
luck and playing him in such a big way will not improve his confidence. Let him
regain his place in Test cricket, now the home season is over, move on,"
Venkatesh posted a series of tweets.
Prasad suggested that to regain his lost mojo, Rahul should
play county cricket in England. He also urged the 30-year-old to miss the 2023
edition of the Indian Premier League, if possible.
"Rahul needs to play County cricket in England, score runs and earn his place back, much like Pujara did when he was dropped. Playing Test Cricket for the country and doing everything possible to get back in form will be the best answer. But will it be possible to skip the IPL?" he added.
In particular, Prasad suggested that Rahul's participation
in the party "shakes belief in justice" and also shows "lack of
ability to dance" in India.
Following another disappointing performance with the bat,
Rahul's participation in the third Test remains a mystery.
The third Test, which was supposed to be played in
Dharamsala, will now be played at the Holkar Stadium in Indore from March 1-5.
