“Not Possible”: R Ashwin Reacts Strongly to Pakistan Threat Amid Asia Cup

Amidst the controversy surrounding the arrival of the Asian tournament, the Pakistan Cricket Board has 'threatened' that they will lose the ODI World Cup if India does not come to their country for the continental tournament. R Ashwin reacted positively to this "horror" from PCB.

As the Asia 2023 clash is on the rise, reactions from cricketers, fans and pundits are on the rise. While the decision on the venue of the continental tournament was postponed at the last meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Indian batsman Ravichandran Ashwin has taken to social media, giving his opinion on the matter. Ashwin, in a video on his YouTube channel, did not think it was possible for Pakistan to skip the ODI World Cup in India if the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) refused to go to their country for the Asian Cup.

“Asia Cup was supposed to take place in Pakistan. But, India has announced that if it takes place in Pakistan, then we won't be participating. If you want us to participate, then do change the venue. But we would have seen this happen many times, right? When we say Asia Cup won't go to their place, they will say that they will also not come to our place," Ashwin said

The finger-spinner played down Pakistan's "ODI World Cup threat', suggesting it is not possible for them to give that tournament a miss.

"However, I think it is not possible," Ashwin said of Pakistan's claim that the 50+ World Cup will be lost if India does not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup.

Regarding the sponsors of the tournament, Ashwin believes that the tournament should be moved to Sri Lanka and not the UAE as there have been several tournaments in the Middle East in recent times.

“The final call may be on moving the Asia Cup to Sri Lanka. This is an important step for the 50+ World Cup. Many competitions have been held in Dubai. I would also like it to be transferred to Sri Lanka,” he said.

The tension between the hosts of the Asian Cup shows that nothing will stop. The ACC, however, is expected to make a decision in March as the tournament is scheduled for September.
