Team India, led
by Rohit Sharma, has suffered several major setbacks in its series of three T20I
games against Sri Lanka, which begins on Thursday. Deep pitcher Deepak Chahar
and middle-class batsman Suryakumar Yadav were not included in the upcoming
T20I series against Sri Lanka.
Deepak suffered
right quadriceps injuries during bowling, while Suryakumar suffered a hair
fracture during field training in the third and final T20I against the West
Indies in Kolkata on Sunday.
The duo will
now go to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru to further treat their
injuries. The team management has already withdrawn Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant
and Shardul Thakur from the T20I series. Kohli and Pant join the team during
the test series, while Shardul takes a break from the entire series against Sri
Lanka.
In the last
T20I match against Deepak Chahar, he started by eliminating Kyle Mayers and
Shai Hope, but as the fifth ball bounced in the second, the seamstress rose and
shook the field at his side. The Chennai Super Kings spent Rs 14 million to
bring Deepak Chahar back to the IPL mega auction.
Suryakumar
Yadav, who was in red-hot form smoked a 31-ball 65, including seven sixes.
Yadav guided Venkatesh during an unbroken 91-run fifth-wicket partnership off
37 balls. Yadav’s command unnerved the West Indies bowlers, as they lost the
plot and played into the batsmen’s hands. Yadav was adjudged the
Man-of-the-Match and Man-of-the-Series.
