"What's the use of fast bowling if...": Big thoughts on Ishant Sharma and Umran Malik

For the Indian voice department, Umran Malik's debut is a breath of fresh air. With incredible speed, Malik delivers a rare commodity in Indian cricket - speed. He played well for SunRisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and quickly broke into the Indian team for the short term. He has played eight ODIs (13 wickets) and eight T20Is (11 wickets) so far. However, he always liked the lines and the length. His save in ODI is 6.45 RPO while in T20 it is 10.48.

Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma, however, advised Umran not to focus on his line and wanted him to focus on his pace instead.

“He doesn't have to worry about where the delivery ends. Through experience, he will understand. So, if he can play 150 or 160, he will focus only on that. It should be self-supporting and not worry about leaks. What's the point of playing fast if the hitters don't stop to close their eyes to the music? So someone should tell him and give him confidence that you have to play fast so that the batsmen don't see him," Ishant said on Cricbuzz show 'Rise Of New India'.

Recently, former Pakistan opener Shoaib Akhtar said that he would be really happy if Umran Malik breaks his record for the fastest run in international cricket. "I will take 26 yards to bowl. But Umran takes 20 yards.

So when it goes 26 yards, it will have a different value. I'm sure next time he will learn. If he needs help, I am always there for him. If he wants to destroy my record, please take him down. It's been 20 years and hasn't been broken, please break it. I will be the first to hug and kiss you,” Akhtar told News24.

"He's very handsome, he's very strong and he runs very strong. He has good arm speed. So umran, take courage and learn fast bowling skills. Learn the art of wicketkeeping. Even if you are often beaten, do not slow down your speed and anger. Always play fast and pause. When you go to the land, ownership of the land will be yours. Don't stop and do a lot."
