The current forms of Virat Kohli and Babar Azam are very
different from each other. While the former captain of the Indian cricket team
is going through the lowest phase of his career, the current captain of the
Pakistan cricket team has had quite a run. There is always a comparison between
the two. However, the friendship between them was not lost. After Virat Kohli
fell for 16 in the second ODI against England, Azam had some encouraging words
for the great India.
Babar Azam's rise in Pakistan and world cricket has been
relatively steady in recent years. He emerged as an exciting talent and was
soon regarded as one of the best in the world after some exciting performances
with the club. He was also promoted to captain Pakistan. While many former
cricketers have argued that he is probably the best batsman in the world in his
current form, others have talked about expanding the 'Top 4' of the
international batting elite group to the 'Top 5' on Being Babar. like Virat
Kohli, Joe Root, Steve Smith and Kane Williamson.
His form in limited overs cricket has been remarkable and
the Pakistan captain continues to dominate the ICC Rankings. In the latest
ranking, Babar retained his highest ranking in the T20I batting rankings,
breaking another record shared by former Indian captain Virat Kohli. Babar is
now at the top of the T20I rankings for the longest time, surpassing Kohli's
record of 1013 days.
Babar recently broke Kohli's other record by scoring more
than 1000 runs in ODIs since taking over as Pakistan captain. He achieved this
feat in just 13 innings. Kohli took 17 innings as India's captain and scored
1000 ODI runs.
