Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra praised star batsman
Virat Kohli on Sunday for his sensational 28-run knock in the fourth Test
against Australia in Ahmedabad. Kohli finally broke his century drought in
Tests after three-and-a-half years and relief was on his face after scoring an
outstanding ton.
Chopra highlighted how Kohli made sure he turned his
hundred into a big one, ending his innings with 186 (364). This has been a
great trait of the former Indian captain, according to Aakash Chopra. And Kohli
may have got his eighth two cents, but he made sure that his shots helped India
achieve success.
"Virat Kohli was looking good for a hundred and he ensured that he converted it into a daddy hundred. That's what separates the great batters from the good. So well done to Virat for that."
The numbers are staggering: Aakash Chopra and Virat Kohli's
skin patch
Kohli has gone 41 innings since his last Test hundred in
November 2019 to end his century-long drought in the longest format. Aakash
Chopra said it was a long streak for Kohli, but he was happy that the latter
could score a big hundred.
Regarding this, Chopra said:
“Virat has yet to score a three-and-a-half century and has
gone 41 cycles without a century in Tests. Those numbers are discouraging for
someone of his stature. I thought it would be worth two cents, but
unfortunately there are no other partners."
Kohli's sensational 186 helped India take a 91-run lead and
put themselves in an almost impossible position to lose the fourth Test.
