Team India's World Test Championship Final Qualification Scenario After 2-0 Triumph Over Bangladesh

With a 2-0 test series win over Bangladesh, the Indian cricket team gave a major boost to their qualification status for the World Championship. Currently occupying 2nd position in the points table, India has only 4 match streaks against Australia before next year's WTC tournament.

After the defeat at the hands of New Zealand in the last WTC Finals, the Indian team has a big chance to make it good this season. But they still have a few obstacles in their way before they can progress to the finals.

Preview of India's World Cup:

In particular, the Indian team will be guaranteed to enter the WTC finals if Rohit Sharma's men beat Australia 4-0 in their next assignment. Such a result, along with a PCT of 68.06%, will seal India's ticket to the finals, regardless of the results of the other contenders.

If India will win 3-1 or 3-0 against the Australians, their PCT will be 62.50%. Such a number will be enough for them to qualify for the final regardless of other results.

If the result is 2-0 or 1-0 against Australia, the PCT of Indian team will be 60.65%. Also, such a number should be enough for India to keep their position in the end.

If the system does not produce results (0-0, 1-1 or 2-2 draws), PCT India will fall below the 60% mark. In such a case, India will want Australia to beat South Africa by a huge margin in the next Test series. Even the result of series between West Indies and South Africa, as well as New Zealand and Sri Lanka should go to India.

If India continue to lose the 4-match Test series against Australia, India will need South Africa and Sri Lanka to lose the rest of the Test series in total. This situation was only true for a 0-1 win for India. In the event of a 0-2, 0-3 or 0-4 win, India will almost be eliminated from the WTC finals.
