'I'm a man who won't quit': Mayank Agarwal on India's future

Mayank Agarwal's international career has been a flyer as he played a huge role in India winning their first ever Test series in Australia in 2018-19. However, after three years, he has fallen down the order in both Tests and ODIs and is yet to get a T20I cap. A poor IPL 2022 campaign didn't help his cause either. But the 31-year-old is determined to push on and return to the national team.

"I'm someone who doesn't give up," Mayank Agarwal told ESPNcricinfo when talking about his future in international cricket.
"I will go after it and improve my game with each passing day. I will be very happy with whatever comes my way but aspirations and dreams never die," the opening batsman added.
“It's about getting out there, getting better and ticking all the boxes.

After ending IPL 2022 with just 196 runs from 12 innings, Mayank worked on his white-ball game and the results were seen in the Maharaja Trophy - a local T20 tournament in Karnataka.

In 11 outings, the right-hander has scored 480 runs at a strike rate of 167.24 while leading Bengaluru Blasters. He scored an impressive 53.33 and hit two centuries. "I have worked really hard on my batting in the last four months. As you can see, I have started sweeping and back-sweeping the ball, even against the fast bowlers," Agarwal said of the work he has done. to improve his limited power batting.

"I've opened up four to five areas in my game that are paying huge dividends. I'm very happy that the hard work I've put in is now paying off," he added.

“To score two hundreds in a T20 tournament like the Maharaja Trophy is a great feeling. It's a great feeling when players react to you the way you want them to. "Of course I run well and then I can lead from the front," he said.

Mayank's heroics helped Bengaluru Blasters reach the final of the Maharaja Trophy, where they will face Gulbarga Mystics or Mysuru Warriors on Friday.
